The Leaking Taps We Repair
Find yours below. Whichever tap it is, you get a fixed price before any work starts.

Kitchen Sink Mixers
A dripping spout, a handle gone stiff or loose, or water pooling in the cupboard underneath.

Shower Taps
Taps that keep dripping after you turn them off, or will not close all the way.

Bathroom Basin Taps
Old two-handle taps with worn washers, or a basin mixer that has started to drip.

Garden And Outdoor Taps
Outside taps that will not shut off, leak at the hose fitting, or need replacing.

Isolation Taps
The small taps under sinks and behind toilets, and the ones feeding dishwashers and fridges, replaced when they leak.

Filtered And Boiling Water Taps
Filtered and boiling water taps installed and serviced, and fixed when they start to leak.

Laundry Taps
Leaking washing machine taps, and the hoses that connect to them.

Bath Taps
Dripping bath spouts and wall taps, with worn washers replaced.

Worn Tap Parts
Washers, spindles and mixer cartridges replaced, so the tap you already have stops leaking.
How Bad Is Your Leaking Tap?
Three ways a tap fails. All three end the same way: repaired or replaced in one visit, with the price agreed before we start.

Leaking Or Dripping Tap
A worn washer, seat or O-ring lets water past even when the tap is closed. A slow drip wastes thousands of litres a year, stains the basin and gets worse - we repair it in one visit.

Fixed Before, Leaking Again
A new washer only lasted a few months? The brass seat is pitted or the spindle is worn, so the washer cannot seal. We re-cut the seat and replace the spindle, and the repair holds.

Old, Stiff Or Corroded Tap
Hard to turn, corroded at the base, or a mixer that keeps failing? Replacing it is often cheaper than repeat repairs. We fit your tap or supply one - kitchen, bathroom, laundry or garden.

Leaking Tap Repair FAQs
Answer:
It depends on what is worn. A washer and O-ring service on a standard tap is the smallest job we do and is quoted as one fixed price before we start. If the seat needs re-cutting or the spindle or mixer cartridge has to be replaced, the price covers that too, and you approve it before any work begins. There is nothing to pay just for us to come and look during business hours.
Answer:
Sometimes, and if a new washer stops the drip you have saved a call. The catch is that a washer only seals against a smooth brass seat. If the seat is pitted, a new washer lasts a few weeks and the drip returns. A plumber re-cuts the seat with a reseating tool, which is the part of the repair a washer kit cannot do.
Answer:
A pitted or scored seat, a worn spindle, or a jumper valve that no longer sits square. Each of those lets water past a brand new washer. Re-cutting the seat and replacing the worn spindle is what makes the repair hold.
Answer:
Repair when the tap body is sound and only the internals are worn. Replace when the tap is corroded, hard to turn, has failed more than once, or is a mixer whose cartridge is no longer made. We tell you which on the spot and quote both ways when it is a close call.
Answer:
Yes. Most mixer leaks come from the ceramic cartridge, which we replace. Where a cartridge is no longer available for an older mixer, replacing the mixer is usually the better value and we quote it upfront.
Answer:
A single tap is usually done within the hour. A whole house of taps, or a replacement where the old tap is corroded in place, takes longer, and we tell you before we start.
Answer:
Either. We carry standard replacement taps and can supply a mixer or a set of basin taps, or we fit one you have bought. If you are buying your own, check it suits the hole spacing and pressure of your fixture, or send us a photo and we will tell you.
Answer:
Yes. Outdoor taps corrode faster than indoor ones and often leak at the spindle. We replace them with new brass taps, fit a hose connection if you want one, and check the pipe behind the wall while we are there.
Answer:
A tap dripping once a second wastes around 20 litres a day, which is more than 7,000 litres a year on your water bill. A steady trickle wastes far more. It is one of the cheapest plumbing problems to fix and one of the most expensive to ignore.
